Stone Cottage Extension

Planning Approval | Stone Cottage Extension & Remodelling

We are delighted to have attained planning approval for our client to extend and remodel a traditional stone cottage in Melkridge. The cottage sits in a traditional farm steading, surrounded by a number of Grade II Listed Buildings. The proposed scheme provides obvious contemporary additions to the buildings, while preserving the setting of the adjacent Grade II Listed Buildings.

Planning Permission approved for the extension and remodelling of a traditional stone cottage, with contemporary additions. The scheme includes a single storey entrance extension, along with  a two storey rear extension.

The existing building provides one bedroom accommodation, with a lounge and small kitchen on the ground floor. The proposed scheme provides an additional bedroom, with ensuite, along with a large kitchen dining space, an entrance porch, storage, and a balcony to enjoy views over the adjacent woodland and stream.

The proposed scheme employs agricultural materials, such as grey profile sheeting, in a contemporary form, ensuring that the extensions are obviously current, while being in keeping with the character of the surrounding farm steading. The timber frame construction will sit onto a steel frame on pads to the steep bankside to the rear.
