Wark Old Church Passivhaus Conversion nearing completion
Works are nearing completion at Warksburn Old Church, ready for visitor bookings starting later this summer. The project achieved an incredibly low Airtightness Test Result of 0.19 ACH. The required standard for a Passivhaus retrofit is 1.0 ACH. As a guide, a typical new build dwelling in the UK will achieve a value of around 5 – 10 ACH. This level of airtightness, along with the MVHR (mechanical ventilation heat recovery system), layers of insulation in the floor, external walls and roof, and incredibly energy efficient windows and doors, will create one of the UK’s most energy efficent buildings.
Wark Old Church build is nearing completion. The project will transform a former Victorian Methodist Chapel, into a Passivhaus standard building for energy efficency, which is a world first!
The interior of the property is taking shape, with finishes being applied and second fix underway. Our clients have incredible vision for colour and finish, with many bespoke items being designed specifically for the property. This includes ceramic light fittings and timber lamp stands, made out of trees that were taken down on site. The interior also includes a hand built oak staircase which leads to the first floor gallery, wheere Anne will display her own ceramics, along with ceramics from other local artists.
