New Build Rural Workers Dwelling

Northumberland

Our client runs a successful livestock farm in Northumberland, just West of Hexham. The farm only had one viable dwelling, with a minimum of two farm workers required to maintain the livestock. After establishing that there was a genuine need for a dwelling on the holding, via an Agricultural Appraisal, an application for a new build Rural Workers Dwelling was successfully submitted and approved.

The dwelling uses traditional materials, including sandstone and natural slate, which are in keeping with the open countryside, farm steading setting. However, the use of corner and full height glazing, brings a contemporary feel to the dwelling. The use of insert panels of Western Red Cedar helps to break up the stone elevations and bring a further contemporary feel to the build. Internally, the build provides an open plan living space, three bedrooms and a day-to-day muddy boots entrance and utility.
