Remodelling and Extension | The Oaks

Shotley Bridge

Insight Architectural Design were commissioned to develop a design, and Conservation Area consent for the extension and remodelling of 90 Snows Green, Shotley Bridge. The existing dwelling was a dormer bungalow, built in brick with stone cladding in the late 1980’s. the property was tired and in need of remodelling.

The scheme included the conversion of the existing garage to form a fourth, master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite. The existing rear conservatory was removed and replaced with a lean-too extension with glazed roof panels providing a large, light , open plan kitchen and dining space. Access to the garden was provided by a set of bifold doors. Existing windows were replaced with new, aluminium, energy efficient units. External walls were either clad in Siberian larch, or a through colour render.

The finished project provides a stunning contemporary four-bedroom family home, set amongst the mature trees in the Shotley Bridge Conservation Area.
